Divya & Vignesh – Destination Wedding Reception | Villa di Artimino, Tuscany, Italy
One of the last destination wedding receptions before Italy’s lockdown…
Looking back on Divya and Vignesh’s Italian destination wedding in Italy feels special and emotional in more ways than one. Their wedding took place in beautiful Tuscany before the outbreak of COVID-19. Italy has struggled during the coronavirus crisis, but I hope these images can serve as a reminder of the country’s incredible beauty, timeless landscapes and irrepressible spirit.
Divya and Vignesh’s Indian wedding reception was held inside the Tenuto di Artimino Villa, which is surely one of the most stunning wedding venues in Tuscany. Canapés and cocktails were served in the atmospheric Barrell Room, with its dramatic arches and authentic stone walls. The room looked truly beautiful: it flickered in the cosy candlelight and was filled with the aromas of sweet and spiced mini vada pavs (a type of mouth-watering Indian street food). The centrepieces had been crafted from blush pink flowers and fresh foliage, while the ceiling was decorated with traditional Italian murals. For dinner, guests got to take their pick between an authentic Indian meal, or something hearty and Italian.

Next, came my opportunity to shoot the couple’s portrait pictures against the beautifully illuminated Tuscan villa. The beautiful, aged Italian architecture amazed me, especially being a wedding photographer in Dubai where the majority of buildings are skyscrapers. It was so picturesque (a destination wedding photographer’s dream), that I took shots both inside and against the symmetrical exterior
Then, it was time to head back inside for the speeches (one of my favourite parts!). Both the bride’s brother and father’s speeches had the room in hysterics, as well as bringing a tear to everyone’s eye. The groom’s speech was both warm and touching – perfectly capturing the blissful feeling of the day.
And where do I begin with the cake? It was a multi-tiered masterpiece with a luxurious gold ombre effect, topped with beautiful blooms. When it was time to hit the dancefloor, the DJ played a mixture of R&B Afrobeats, Dance and Bollywood to keep everyone’s toes tapping throughout the night. The perfect end to the perfect South Indian wedding in Italy.
